F&Q'S

Q: What is the best time of year to visit Doringbos?

A: South African winter and cooler months (April - October). Flower season in September is particularly spectacular on the farm! November is also a good month but be aware that temperatures are starting to rise. Over summer months, temperatures can soar as high as 43 degrees C.

Q: How far is Doringbos from Cape Town?

A: Doringbos is approximately 3 hours 30 minutes drive.

Q: Do I need a 4x4 to reach the farm?

A: As Doringbos is accessed along dirt road, ideally a 4x4 or high clearance vehicle is better suited for the journey, but not a deal-breaker.

Q: What is the closest town?

A: Clanwilliam is approximately 30 minutes drive from Doringbos.

Q: Is Doringbos child friendly?

A: Children are absolutely welcome at Doringbos - however - there are safety risks for children that parents need to be acutely aware of, and make an informed decision as to whether or not to bring the little ones along. Please enquire with us for detail.

Q: Is Doringbos pet friendly?

A: Doringbos is pet friendly for all dogs that will not chase or harm our wild and domestic animal life which roams freely on the farm (game, horses, goats, chickens, peacocks, etc). Just to be extra careful, we require that all dogs are on leashes when walking on the farm.

Q: How many guests can Doringbos accommodate?

A: We limit the accommodation to 14 guests for the comfort and service of our guests. Two rooms are also reserved for staff.

Q: Is there WIFI?

A: Yes. But please bare in mind it is not the speed that we are use to in the city as it is solar powered.

Q: Is there DSTV?

A: No. Doringbos is off the grid, but generators are run at night to provide light and power.

Q: Is servicing included?

A: Yes, three housekeeping staff will be taking care of you. Additional staff can be arranged.

Q: Do we need to bring our own bedding and towels?

A: No, all linen, bedding and towels are provided.

Q: What do we need to bring in terms of catering for ourselves?

A: If you have booked the self-catering option, you will need to bring all your own foods and beverages, importantly including ice and coolers (as we are off the grid). We do provide condiments such as salt, pepper, olive oil, vinegar, tea, coffee and sugar. If you have booked the full-board option, everything will be catered for. Please be sure to let us know if you have any special requirements, or take these along.

Q: Is there phone reception on the farm?

A: Some networks pick up signal at our farm entrance, but there is otherwise no phone reception on the farm. The wifi allows for Whatsapp, Skype and Zoom meetings, and there is a satelite radio in case of emergency.

Q: Do you take corporate bookings?

A: Yes! Please enquire with us.
